Connect a phone number

Give your AI agent a phone line to answer. You can get a fresh number through Good2Go in a couple of clicks, bring a number you already own on Twilio, or forward your existing business line.

Three ways to connect a number

  • Get a number through Good2Go— search, buy, and it's wired up automatically. The simplest path.
  • Bring your own Twilio number — keep a number you already run on Twilio and route its calls to your AI agent.
  • Forward an existing line — leave your current number where it is and set call forwarding to a Good2Go number.

Option A: Get a number through Good2Go

This is the recommended route — there are no credentials to paste and nothing to configure by hand.

  1. 1
Open Phone Numbers from the sidebar.
  2. 2
Search by country and area code, then press Buy on a number you like.
  3. 3
In the number's agent dropdown, pick the AI agent that should answer it.
  4. 4
Call the number to hear your agent pick up.
TipA Good2Go number starts answering the moment it's assigned to an agent — there is no forwarding or webhook to set up.

Option B: Bring your own Twilio number

Already have a number on Twilio? Connect your Twilio account so its calls route to Good2Go. You'll need your Twilio Account SID, your Auth Token, and the phone number in E.164 format (for example +15551234567). You can find the SID and Auth Token on the dashboard of your Twilio Console.

  1. 1
Go to Settings and find the Your own Twilio account section.
  2. 2
Paste your Account SID (it starts with AC).
  3. 3
Paste your Auth Token from the same Twilio Console dashboard.
  4. 4
Enter the phone number you want to use, including the country code.
  5. 5
Press Connect Twilio. We validate the credentials and point the number's voice webhook at Good2Go.

The values you enter look like this:

Twilio credentials
TWILIO_ACCOUNT_SID=ACxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
TWILIO_AUTH_TOKEN=your_twilio_auth_token
TWILIO_PHONE_NUMBER=+15551234567
ImportantTreat your Auth Token like a password — anyone with it can place calls and send messages that bill to your Twilio account. Never share it or paste it anywhere but the Settings form. If you think it leaked, rotate it in the Twilio Console right away.
NoteIf we can't automatically set the webhook on your number, we'll tell you — just open the number in your Twilio Console and set its Voice URLto the address we show you. Bringing your own Twilio number may need to be enabled for your workspace first; ask your administrator if you don't see the section.

Option C: Forward an existing business line

Want to keep your current number exactly as it is? Buy or connect a Good2Go number, then set call forwarding on your existing line so calls ring through to the AI agent.

  1. 1
Get a Good2Go number (Option A) and assign it to an agent.
  2. 2
In your phone carrier's settings, turn on call forwarding to that Good2Go number.
  3. 3
Choose whether to forward all calls, or only when you're busy or don't answer.
  4. 4
Call your existing number and confirm the AI agent answers.
NoteForwarding rules and codes vary by carrier. In your dashboard, the Call Forwarding wizard gives you the exact code to dial for your carrier, and lets you choose all calls vs only when unanswered. Conditional forwarding (only when unanswered) is a good way to let the AI cover overflow and after-hours while your team still picks up when they can.

Call-forwarding codes by carrier

The wizard fills these in for you, but here is the full reference for every US carrier. The code you dial depends on your carrier's network, not its brand — so smaller carriers (MVNOs) use the codes of the network they run on. Replace <number> with your Good2Go number's digits (for example 16027865498).

T-Mobile network — T-Mobile, Metro, Mint, Ultra, Simple Mobile, Tello…

  • Forward all calls — dial **21*<number>#; turn off with ##21#.
  • Forward only when unanswered (busy, no answer, or phone off) — dial **004*<number>*11#; turn off with ##004#.

AT&T network — AT&T, Cricket, H2O, PureTalk…

AT&T doesn't reliably accept the combined **004* command, so use the individual conditional codes.

  • Forward all calls — dial **21*<number>#; turn off with ##21#.
  • Forward when you don't answer — dial **61*<number>#; turn off with ##61#. To also catch busy and unreachable, additionally set **67*<number># and **62*<number>#.

Verizon, US Cellular, landline & VoIP

Also covers Visible, Xfinity Mobile, Spectrum Mobile, Total by Verizon, Page Plus, and most landlines.

  • Forward all calls — dial *72<number>; turn off with *73.
  • Forward only when unanswered (busy or no answer) — dial *71<number>; turn off with *73.

App-managed and multi-network carriers

  • Google Fi — set forwarding at fi.google.comor in the Fi app (Account → Call forwarding); dial codes aren't reliable on Fi.
  • Straight Talk, Tracfone, Red Pocket— these run on AT&T, T-Mobile, or Verizon depending on your SIM, so use that network's codes above.
  • VoIP(RingCentral, Ooma, Vonage, Grasshopper…) — forwarding is usually set in the provider's app or web portal, not with a dial code.
NoteCodes can vary by region and plan, and some prepaid plans block forwarding — confirm with your carrier. If a GSM ** code is rejected, try the number without the leading 1. On GSM you can clear all forwarding with ##002# and check what's currently set with *#004#. Always place a test call afterward, and keep the "turn off" code handy.
